This preparatory course is designed for international candidates planning to study in Poland in English. Its goal is to help participants reach the B2 level of English proficiency (CEFR) and to prepare them for academic, cultural and social life in Poland.
Course objectives
Participants develop language, academic and intercultural competences essential for studying in English at a Polish university. The program combines intensive English-language study with academic skills training, introduction to Polish culture, and practical knowledge about university life. After completion, participants reach the B2 level required for admission to English-language higher education programs in Poland.
Target group
- international candidates planning to start studies in English in Poland,
- future students of BA, MA or postgraduate programs,
- participants aiming to improve academic and professional English skills before university admission.
Organization and study paths
The course lasts at least 9 months (October – June) and is delivered in small international groups. Teaching is conducted by qualified academic instructors specializing in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Each participant begins after a placement test (A0–A2).

All variants end with a final B2 examination and a final academic project.
Program structure
- English for Communication and Academic Skills (600–900h) – listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar
- Academic English (EAP) – text analysis, paraphrasing, summarizing, essay writing, referencing
- Subject-specific introduction (180h) – fundamentals of social sciences, management, pedagogy, or psychology
- Polish Culture and Society (60h) – history, traditions, communication norms, student life in Poland
- Academic Presentations and Public Speaking – oral communication, teamwork, debating
- ICT and Study Tools – LMS, research databases, academic integrity, referencing software
- Cultural Integration and Mentoring – adaptation workshops, intercultural communication
- Final Project and B2 Certification Exam
Learning outcomes
- Knowledge: structure of Polish higher education, academic conventions, culture and social realities in Poland.
- Skills: academic writing, presentations, reading and understanding academic texts, listening comprehension.
- Social competences: teamwork, intercultural communication, self-management and adaptability.
Completion and certification
To complete the course, participants must:
- attend at least 70% of classes,
- pass module assessments and final exam (B2 level),
- successfully complete the academic project.
Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion of the Preparatory Course for English-language Studies, recognized by Polish universities and confirming English proficiency at B2 level in accordance with MNiSW regulations.
Legal basis (key provisions)
- Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (Journal of Laws 2024, item 769 et seq.): Art. 60 (1)(9) and (4) – a foreigner may obtain a national visa with the “student” annotation if the purpose of stay in Poland is to attend a preparatory course for university studies; this visa allows residence for the duration of the course.
- Art. 144 (2) of the same Act – a foreigner may apply for a temporary residence permit for education purposes if enrolled in a preparatory course preceding university studies.
- Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education (2025) on documents confirming language proficiency – defines level B2 as the minimum requirement for admission to English-language degree programs.

How to Apply: Step by Step Guide
- Register via e-rekrutacja or visit the Recruitment Office.
- Pay the registration fee.
- Pay tuition for the year/semester of study.
- Deliver the required documents to the University in person, by mail or email.
- You will learn about your admission after the admissions committee through the e-recruitment system.
- Admission information will be sent to the e-mail address provided.
- Registration in E-rekrutacja
- Photocopy of high school diploma or other document confirming secondary education.
- 2 photos of 3,5×4.5 mm format
- Proof of payment of the enrollment fee
- For studies in English, an IELTS certificate at level 5.5 or a university language exam is required.
In person to the Recruitment Office
- Submit photocopies of documents with originals for inspection.
- The originals will be certified as a true copy.
